Nador

Nador is a city in northeastern Morocco, located on the Mediterranean coast and serving as the capital of Nador Province in the Oriental region. It lies in the Rif area, opposite the Spanish enclave of Melilla across the Alboran Sea. The port town has long functioned as a fishing harbor and regional commercial hub.

The population includes a large Amazigh (Berber) community, with Tarifit widely spoken alongside Moroccan Arabic. Islam is the predominant religion. The Rif region has a distinctive cultural and linguistic heritage that continues to influence daily life in Nador.

The local economy centers on the port and fishing industry, with additional activity in trade, services, and light manufacturing. Surrounding areas produce citrus, olives, and vegetables, contributing to regional commerce. Tourism has grown in recent years, drawn by coastal beaches and proximity to the Rif mountains.

Infrastructure in Nador includes Nador International Airport, offering connections to Casablanca and several international destinations, as well as road links to other Moroccan cities. Maritime connections exist with other North African ports and, to varying degrees, with ports in Europe.

Climate is Mediterranean, characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The city serves as a gateway to the Rif region and to nearby coastal and rural areas, reflecting its role as a regional urban and economic center.
