NaDCC

Sodium dichloroisocyanurate, commonly abbreviated NaDCC, is a stabilized chlorine-releasing compound used as a disinfectant and sanitizer. It is typically sold as granules, tablets, or dihydrate formulations that dissolve in water to release hypochlorous acid and chlorine, the active disinfecting species.

NaDCC is favored for its stability and ease of handling compared with liquid chlorine solutions. The solid form has a longer shelf life and provides a controlled release of chlorine for dosing in water or on surfaces. Its disinfecting performance depends on factors such as pH, temperature, and contact time, with hypochlorous acid being more effective at lower pH values. Limitations include the need to handle as a irritant; contact with skin or eyes should be minimized, and dust or inhalation can irritate the respiratory tract. It should not be mixed with acids, as this can release chlorine gas, and containers should be kept dry and stored per manufacturer instructions.
