NTproANP
NTproANP (N-terminal pro-atrial natriuretic peptide) is a biomarker used primarily in clinical medicine to assess cardiac function and diagnose heart conditions. It is a fragment of the atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), a hormone produced by the atrial muscle cells of the heart in response to increased atrial wall stretch, typically due to volume overload or pressure overload. When heart failure or other cardiac conditions cause the heart to enlarge or become overworked, ANP levels rise, leading to an increase in NTproANP concentrations in the bloodstream.
