Mótefnadrep

Mótefnadrep is a term of Old English origin, literally translating to "moth-attacked" or "eaten by moths". It is not a recognized biological species or a scientific classification. Instead, it describes a state of being damaged or consumed by moths, particularly in the context of fabric or stored goods. This damage is typically caused by the larvae of certain moth species, such as clothes moths, which feed on keratin, a protein found in natural fibers like wool, silk, and fur.

The term mótefnadrep would be used to indicate that an item has suffered from this type of infestation. For example, a woolen blanket that has been riddled with holes due to moth activity could be described as mótefnadrep.
