Måttresistors

Måttresistors, also known as precision resistors, are resistors with very tight manufacturing tolerances. This means their actual resistance value is very close to their stated nominal value, often within a fraction of a percent. This high accuracy is crucial in applications where precise current or voltage measurements are required, or where predictable circuit behavior is essential.

The accuracy of a måttresistor is typically specified by its tolerance, expressed as a percentage. For example, a 1% tolerance resistor will have a resistance value that deviates by no more than 1% from its marked value. Higher precision måttresistors can have tolerances of 0.1%, 0.01%, or even better.

These resistors are manufactured using specialized techniques and materials to minimize variations. Common materials include metal film, wirewound, and foil elements. The choice of material and construction affects not only the tolerance but also other important characteristics such as temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR), stability over time, and noise. A low TCR is desirable as it means the resistance changes very little with temperature fluctuations, further enhancing precision.

Måttresistors find widespread use in scientific instrumentation, medical devices, test and measurement equipment, high-fidelity audio systems, and any electronic circuit where precise signal conditioning or voltage division is needed. Their higher cost compared to standard resistors is justified by the enhanced performance and reliability they provide in demanding applications.
