Myelínvekjun

Myelínvekjun is a condition characterized by the progressive degeneration of myelin, the fatty protective sheath that surrounds nerve fibers in the central nervous system. This myelin sheath is crucial for the rapid and efficient transmission of nerve impulses. When myelin is damaged or destroyed, nerve signals can be slowed, distorted, or completely blocked, leading to a range of neurological symptoms.

The causes of myelínvekjun are diverse and can include genetic factors, autoimmune responses, infections, and metabolic disorders. In autoimmune forms, the body's own immune system mistakenly attacks the myelin.
