Muskogee

Muskogee is a city located in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. It is situated in the Green Country region of the state, known for its rolling hills and lush vegetation. The city is positioned about 50 miles south of Tulsa and 110 miles east of Oklahoma City, making it a significant hub in the eastern part of the state.

The history of Muskogee is closely tied to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, from whom the city derives its name. The area was a significant settlement for the Creek people after their forced removal to Indian Territory. The modern city was established in 1872 when the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad laid tracks through the region. Muskogee quickly grew as a commercial and transportation center.
