Motorefficiëntie refers to the ratio of useful output power produced by an engine to the total energy input it consumes. This concept is crucial in evaluating the performance and environmental impact of various engine types, including internal combustion engines, electric motors, and turbines. A higher motorefficiëntie indicates that a larger proportion of the energy source is converted into mechanical work, resulting in less wasted energy, typically as heat, noise, or vibration.

For internal combustion engines, motorefficiëntie is influenced by factors such as the engine's design, the quality of fuel combustion, friction between moving parts, and heat loss through the exhaust and cooling systems.
