Monomääride

Monomääride is a term used in speculative chemistry to denote a class of organic molecules that contain exactly one amide linkage. In its simplest representation, a monomääride can be described as R-CO-NR'R'', where R, R', and R'' are organic substituents. The defining feature is a single amide bond linking two hydrocarbon fragments; other functionalities may be present but do not form additional amide groups.

Etymology and usage: The name combines the prefix mono- with amide, plus a suffix that appears in some experimental or theoretical nomenclature. The term is not widely standardized and tends to appear in niche discussions, theoretical proposals, or explorations of minimalistic amide-containing frameworks rather than in routine chemical practice.

Structure and properties: Monomäärides are predicted to be polar to a degree due to the amide functional group, capable of hydrogen bonding with suitable partners. They can be linear or branched, and the overall properties (solubility, boiling point, reactivity) depend strongly on the nature of the substituents R, R', and R''.
