Monogeensed

Monogeensed, also known as monogynous asexuality, is a form of asexuality where an individual is exclusively attracted to one person of the same sex. Unlike other forms of asexuality, monogeensed individuals do not experience sexual attraction to others, regardless of their gender. This form of asexuality is not recognized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) or the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), but it is acknowledged in some academic and community contexts.

Monogeensed individuals may experience a range of emotions and attractions, including emotional, romantic, or platonic feelings towards their chosen partner. These feelings can be strong and intense, similar to those experienced by sexually attracted individuals. However, the absence of sexual attraction is a defining characteristic of monogeensed.

The term "monogeensed" was coined by asexual advocacy group Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN) to provide a more specific and inclusive term for individuals who identify as asexual but are exclusively attracted to one person. This term is used to differentiate monogeensed individuals from those who are asexually attracted to multiple people.

Monogeensed individuals may face unique challenges and experiences, including the potential for heartbreak or loss if their chosen partner is unavailable or no longer interested. However, they also have the potential for deep, meaningful relationships with their chosen partner. It is important for monogeensed individuals to communicate openly about their feelings and needs with their partners to ensure a healthy and fulfilling relationship.
