Mindpostal is a term used primarily in speculative cognitive science and science fiction to describe a metaphorical system for transmitting thoughts, memories, and impressions through channels analogous to a postal network. It presents mental content as discrete, deliverable messages rather than as continuous streams.

Etymology and conceptually, mindpostal combines the idea of the mind with postal mechanics: content is packaged as messages or postcards, addressed to recipients or receptors such as attention, memory cues, or other minds. Delivery depends on cognitive contexts like focus, relevance, and social cues. The framework treats thought transfer as an organized flow of represented content rather than a literal physical process.

Mechanism and structure are intentionally abstract. A mindpost carries content, context, and intent, with destinations corresponding to where the idea should land—be it an intended memory cue, an external communication, or a shared mental workspace. The metaphor emphasizes sequencing, prioritization, and the timing of delivery within neural or social networks, rather than describing a real mechanism.
