They may also advise on sustainability strategies, energy efficiency, and climate risk adaptation.

Common tasks involve site reviews and data collection, sampling and laboratory analysis coordination, risk assessments, preparation of documentation for authorities, and drafting reports such as EIA/konsekvensutredning, permit applications, remediation plans, and monitoring programs. Miljøkonsulenter often serve as liaisons between clients and regulatory authorities, translating technical findings into clear recommendations and compliance steps. Typical qualifications include a master’s degree in environmental science, civil or environmental engineering, chemistry, or related fields, with experience in fieldwork, reporting, and regulatory processes. Strong analytical, communication, and collaborative abilities are essential.
