Mikrotsütaalse (Estonian for "microcirculation") refers to the circulation of blood within the smallest blood vessels in the body, including capillaries, arterioles, and venules. This intricate network plays a critical role in delivering oxygen, nutrients, and other essential substances to tissues while removing metabolic waste products such as carbon dioxide and cellular debris. Efficient microcirculation is vital for maintaining tissue health and overall physiological function.

The microcirculatory system consists of three primary components: arterioles, capillaries, and venules. Arterioles regulate blood flow by adjusting their diameter in response to local metabolic demands and systemic signals. Capillaries, the thinnest vessels, facilitate the exchange of gases, nutrients, and waste between blood and surrounding tissues through diffusion.
