Mikrohüdrosüsteem

Mikrohüdrosüsteem refers to a small-scale hydroelectric power generation system. These systems typically harness the energy of flowing water, such as from a river, stream, or even a controlled water release, to produce electricity. Unlike large-scale hydroelectric dams, microhydro systems are designed for localized power needs, often serving individual homes, farms, or small communities. The primary components of a microhüdrosüsteem usually include a water intake, a penstock (a pipe or channel that carries water to the turbine), a turbine, a generator, and a control system.

The size and output of microhydro systems can vary significantly, but they generally generate between a few kilowatts and up to 100 kilowatts of power. The suitability of a location for a microhydro system depends on factors like water flow rate and the available head, which is the vertical distance the water falls. These systems are often considered a renewable energy source, as they utilize a naturally replenishing resource without producing greenhouse gas emissions during operation. They can operate continuously as long as there is sufficient water flow, making them a reliable source of power, especially in remote areas where grid connection might be difficult or expensive.
