Mielialipsykoosi refers to a specific presentation of psychosis that occurs in conjunction with a mood disorder, typically a major depressive episode or a manic episode. It is not a separate diagnosis but rather a specifier used when psychotic symptoms are present during a mood episode. The content of the psychotic symptoms is often congruent with the prevailing mood. For instance, individuals experiencing a depressive episode might have delusions or hallucinations that are themes of worthlessness, guilt, or punishment. Conversely, those in a manic episode might experience delusions of grandeur, inflated self-worth, or special powers.
