Midtbacker

Midtbacker is a Danish term that translates to "middle defender" or "central defender" in English. It refers to a player whose primary role on a football (soccer) team is to defend the central area of their own team's half of the pitch. Midtbackere are typically positioned in front of the goalkeeper and are responsible for preventing opposing forwards from scoring goals. Their duties often include tackling, marking opposing attackers, intercepting passes, and clearing the ball from dangerous areas.

In a traditional four-man defense, there are usually two midtbackere. They work closely together, communicating to cover each other's positions and maintain a cohesive defensive line.
