Methandienone

Methandienone, also known as Dianabol or by its chemical name 17-alpha-methyl-17-beta-hydroxy-androsta-1,4-dien-3-one, is a synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS). It was developed in the late 1950s and was one of the first orally administered anabolic steroids. Methandienone is known for its rapid anabolic effects, which can include increased muscle mass, strength, and endurance. It is also associated with significant androgenic effects.

The mechanism of action of methandienone involves binding to androgen receptors in the body, which then stimulates protein synthesis and red blood cell production. This leads to the characteristic muscle-building and performance-enhancing effects. However, like other anabolic steroids, methandienone has a range of potential side effects. These can include liver toxicity due to its oral administration, as it is an alkylated compound designed to survive passage through the liver.
