Applications: E-commerce marketplaces may emphasize seller dashboards, promotional programs, and seller education; B2B marketplaces and merchant services providers may offer credit, logistics, and vendor management.

Relation: It contrasts with consumer-oriented approaches that center shopper experience, or with platform-centric models that privilege platform growth metrics over merchant profitability.

Criticism: If overemphasized, it may neglect consumer welfare, distort pricing, or create rigidity; balancing merchant interests with user experience and platform sustainability is essential.
