Meldingsserie

Meldingsserie, literally “notification series” in Dutch, is a term used in information technology, industrial automation, and safety engineering to describe a sequence of alerts or messages generated in response to a detected event. A meldingsserie typically consists of multiple notifications sent over time to ensure visibility and eventual action, rather than a single one-off alert.

In practice, the series starts with an initial alert and may be followed by reminders or escalations if the event is unresolved or unacknowledged. The aim is to balance timely awareness with avoiding alert fatigue by using damping, backoff, or rate limiting, and by defining who should be notified at each stage.
