Mehiläishammaskennon

Mehiläishammaskennon, which translates to "bee propolis," is a resinous mixture that honey bees produce by mixing their saliva and beeswax with exudate gathered from tree buds, sap flows, or other natural sources. Bees use propolis to construct and maintain their hives. It is a sticky, viscous substance that can range in color from yellow-brown to black.

The composition of propolis varies depending on the geographic location, the season, and the specific bee species, but it typically contains resins, waxes, essential oils, pollen, and various organic compounds like flavonoids and phenolic acids. These compounds are believed to contribute to propolis's antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.
