Megmunkáltsága is a Hungarian term that translates to "machinability" or "workability" in English. It refers to the ease with which a material can be shaped or processed using mechanical means, such as cutting, drilling, milling, or turning. This property is crucial in manufacturing and engineering, as it directly impacts the cost, speed, and quality of production.

Several factors contribute to a material's megmunkáltsága. These include its hardness, tensile strength, ductility, toughness, and the presence of abrasive particles. For instance, materials with high hardness and tensile strength generally exhibit poor machinability, requiring more force and specialized tools to work with. Conversely, ductile materials are often easier to machine but may be prone to producing long, continuous chips, which can complicate the machining process.
