Mediace

Mediace is a term used in information technology to denote a mediation layer that harmonizes interactions among diverse services, devices, and data formats within a distributed ecosystem. It describes an architectural pattern rather than a single product, and its exact implementation can vary by organization.

Typically mediace functions as an intermediary service or broker that uses adapters to connect source systems with target systems, performs data transformation and normalization, and enforces governance through policy-based routing, security controls, and auditing. It supports asynchronous messaging, protocol translation, and event-driven integration, and may be deployed as a cloud service, on-premises, or as a hybrid solution.

Architecture and components: mediation service, adapters/connectors, data mapping and transformation rules, governance and security layer, and monitoring/runtime. Interoperability is achieved via common data models and mapping languages; it often integrates with API gateways, enterprise service buses, or microservices platforms.
