Mdalok
Mdalok is a traditional dish originating from the Maluku Islands of Indonesia. It is a type of steamed fish or seafood, often prepared with a rich blend of spices and herbs. The primary ingredient is typically fresh fish, such as snapper or mackerel, though shrimp or squid can also be used. The fish is usually marinated in a mixture that includes turmeric, ginger, garlic, chili, and a variety of local aromatics like daun sirih (betel leaf) or daun kemangi (lemon basil).
The preparation method involves wrapping the marinated fish in banana leaves or other large edible leaves.
