Matriisijärjestelmä, often translated as matrix system, refers to a management or organizational structure where individuals report to more than one supervisor. This deviates from the traditional hierarchical model where each employee has a single direct superior. In a matrix system, an employee might report to a functional manager, who is responsible for their technical skills and development, and simultaneously to a project manager, who is responsible for a specific project's progress and deliverables.

This dual reporting structure can offer several advantages. It allows for efficient allocation of resources and expertise across different projects.
