The name reflects the underlying modular propulsion concept, combining small jet units with adjustable control surfaces to create versatile, high-speed airframes suitable for precision flight.

Design and capabilities: Matjets use a range of propulsion options, including micro turbojet units and electric ducted fans, housed in a modular airframe. Carbon-fiber fuselages and quick-swap payload bays enable rapid reconfiguration for cinematography, surveying, or racing. Typical machines range from compact 0.6 to 1.2 meters in wingspan, with top speeds of 150 to 320 km/h and endurance from 20 to 60 minutes, depending on model and load.

Operational use and regulation: Matjets have been deployed in film production, live-event broadcasting, and aerial sports. Operators generally rely on autonomous flight modes with line-of-sight or BVLOS permissions under national aviation regulations.
