Maslowin

Maslowin is a theoretical framework that adapts Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs to motivate behavior in modern educational, organizational, and digital environments. Compared with the original hierarchy, Maslowin foregrounds contextual factors such as culture, technology, social networks, and privacy, and it supports modular interventions within each domain.

Origins and status. The term Maslowin appears in speculative design and thought-experiment literature from the late 2010s and has since circulated in discussions of human-centered design and organizational development. It is not an established or widely validated theory in mainstream psychology, and most references treat it as a conceptual tool rather than an empirically confirmed model.

Framework overview. Maslowin categorizes motivation into discrete yet overlapping zones aligned with needs intensity. Practitioners identify indicators of fulfillment in each zone and tailor strategies to move individuals toward higher needs. The model also integrates digital engagement, ethical considerations, and cultural context into need fulfillment.

Applications. In education, Maslowin informs inclusive curricula and support systems that address basic comfort, safety, belonging, and opportunity for growth. In workplaces, it guides onboarding, recognition, and development programs. In product and service design, it helps align features with users' evolving needs and values.
