Marleyan

Marleyan refers to the nation of Marley, a fictional country featured in the manga and anime series Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). Within the narrative, Marley is presented as a powerful military state that oppresses the Eldian people, forcing them to live in segregated internment zones called "Nakas" and using them as living weapons known as Titan Shifters.

Marley's society is highly militarized, with a strong emphasis on technological advancement and a deeply ingrained prejudice against Eldians, whom they refer to as "devils." The country possesses the ability to transform Eldians into Pure Titans and has inherited several of the Nine Titan powers from the Eldians who once ruled their continent. These Titan Shifters are utilized by Marley for military conquest and to maintain their dominance over other nations.

The history of Marley is deeply intertwined with that of Eldia. Following a devastating war centuries prior, Eldia was defeated by Marley, and the Eldian Empire was dismantled. The Marleyans then initiated a systematic oppression of the Eldian population, which continues into the present day of the story. The narrative explores the complex motivations and justifications behind Marley's actions, as well as the suffering inflicted upon the Eldian people. The concept of Marley and its conflict with the Eldians forms a central theme in Attack on Titan, exploring issues of racism, war, and historical trauma.
