Shingeki
Shingeki is a Japanese term that can refer to two distinct concepts in media and culture. In theatre, Shingeki (新劇) translates to "new drama" and designates a modern movement that emerged in early 20th-century Japan. Proponents sought to introduce Western-style realism and naturalistic acting, moving away from traditional forms such as kabuki and bunraku. The movement emphasized contemporary life, social issues, and character psychology, and it helped lay the groundwork for modern Japanese theatre and television drama. It fostered new playwrights, actors, and directors who experimented with form, language, and staging, influencing later generations of Japanese dramatic art.
Shingeki is also the first element of the title of the popular manga and anime series Shingeki
