Manipulointihyökkäykset

Manipulointihyökkäys, or manipulation attack, is a type of cyberattack where an attacker attempts to alter the input data of a system to influence its behavior or output in a way that benefits the attacker. This can occur in various contexts, including web applications, databases, and machine learning models.

In web applications, manipulation attacks often target input fields where users submit data. For instance, an attacker might inject malicious code into a search bar or form field, hoping that the application will process this code as if it were legitimate data, leading to unintended actions like data leakage or unauthorized access. SQL injection is a well-known example of this type of manipulation.

In the context of databases, attackers might manipulate data to corrupt records, create fraudulent entries, or gain unauthorized privileges. This can have significant consequences for data integrity and system security.

More recently, manipulation attacks have become a concern in machine learning. Adversarial attacks aim to subtly alter input data, such as images or text, in a way that is imperceptible to humans but causes the machine learning model to misclassify or make incorrect predictions. This can have serious implications in applications like autonomous driving or medical diagnosis.

The core principle behind a manipulation attack is exploiting weaknesses in how a system validates, processes, and trusts input data.
