Maladaptací

Maladaptací is a term used in evolutionary biology and psychology to describe a trait or behavior that was once adaptive but has become detrimental in a new environment or context. This can occur when an organism's environment changes, rendering a previously beneficial trait no longer advantageous, or even harmful. For example, a thick fur coat that was once essential for survival in a cold climate might become a maladaptation if the climate warms significantly.

In psychology, maladaptation refers to behaviors or thought patterns that were once helpful for coping with past stressors but are now counterproductive in current situations. For instance, a hypervigilant response developed to survive a traumatic childhood might persist into adulthood, leading to anxiety and difficulties in forming healthy relationships.
