Maksimointitehtävät, known in English as maximization problems, are a fundamental concept in mathematics, economics, and computer science. They involve finding the largest possible value of a function, subject to certain constraints. This function is often referred to as the objective function, and the variables within it are the decision variables. The constraints define the feasible region, which is the set of all possible solutions that satisfy the given conditions.

The core idea of a maximization problem is to optimize a given quantity. For example, in business, a company might want to maximize its profit, with constraints being the available resources like labor, raw materials, and capital. In engineering, a design might aim to maximize its strength or efficiency under weight or cost limitations.
