Magneetoida

Magneetoida is a Finnish verb that translates to "to magnetize" in English. It describes the process of making a material magnetic or increasing its magnetic properties. This can be achieved through various methods, including exposure to a strong magnetic field, friction with a permanent magnet, or by passing an electric current through a conductor wound around the material. Materials that can be magnetized are typically ferromagnetic, such as iron, nickel, and cobalt, or ferrimagnetic materials like ferrites.

The process of magnetizing involves aligning the magnetic domains within the material. In a non-magnetized state, these domains are oriented randomly, resulting in no net magnetic field. When subjected to an external magnetic field, these domains tend to align themselves with the field. Once aligned, the material retains a degree of this magnetism even after the external field is removed, becoming a permanent magnet. If the alignment is only temporary, it is referred to as induced magnetism.

Magneetoida is a fundamental concept in physics and engineering, with applications ranging from electric motors and generators to data storage devices and medical imaging. The ability to magnetize and demagnetize materials is crucial for the function of many technologies that rely on magnetic forces and fields.
