Maasammakot

Maasammakot is a parasitic flatworm that belongs to the phylum Platyhelminthes and the family Dendrocoelidae. It is commonly found in freshwater environments, specifically in oligohaline and polyhaline waters, around the world.

These flatworms are small, ranging from a few millimeters to a few centimeters in length, and have a simple, flat body structure. They possess a thin epidermis, a parenchyma layer, and a network of longitudinal muscles. Maasammakot is a sequential hermaphrodite, meaning that each individual starts life as a male and then matures into a female.

They use their anterior sucker to attach to the host and inject their pharynx into the host's body cavity, where they release enzymes to break down the host's internal tissues.
