MRT3

The MRT3, officially known as the Metro Rail Transit Line 3, is a light rail rapid transit line in Metro Manila, Philippines. It runs along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), the main highway of the metropolis, from North Avenue in Quezon City to Taft Avenue in Pasay City. The line is operated by the Metro Rail Transit Corporation (MRTC) under a concession agreement with the Philippine government.

Construction of MRT3 began in 1996 and it opened to the public in July 2000. It was conceived to alleviate the severe traffic congestion along EDSA. The system consists of 13 stations, serving key commercial, business, and residential areas. Ridership has consistently been high, often exceeding the system's design capacity, which has led to frequent overcrowding and operational challenges.

Over the years, MRT3 has faced numerous issues related to maintenance, train availability, and passenger comfort. The aging infrastructure and rolling stock have been a persistent concern, prompting various rehabilitation and modernization programs. Despite these challenges, MRT3 remains a vital component of the public transportation network in Metro Manila, providing an essential link for thousands of commuters daily. Efforts are ongoing to improve its reliability and capacity to better serve its passengers.
