MIMTeile

MIMTeile is a term derived from the German phrase "Metalleinsatzteile" which translates to "metal insert parts". It refers to components made of metal that are embedded or incorporated into other materials, typically plastics, during the manufacturing process. This technique is commonly employed in injection molding and is often referred to as insert molding.

The primary purpose of using MIMTeile is to enhance the properties of the final product. By integrating metal inserts, manufacturers can impart strength, conductivity, wear resistance, or specific functionalities that are not achievable with the base material alone. For instance, metal threads can be molded directly into plastic parts, eliminating the need for separate tapping operations. Electrical contacts can be seamlessly integrated into plastic housings.

The process of incorporating MIMTeile involves placing the metal insert into the mold cavity before the plastic is injected. The molten plastic then flows around the insert, encapsulating it and forming a single, integrated component upon cooling.
