MAGMIG hitsaus, also known as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) or Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, is a widely used arc welding process. It utilizes a continuous solid wire electrode that is fed through a welding gun. An electric arc forms between this wire electrode and the workpiece, melting both to create a weld. A shielding gas, typically a mixture of inert gases like argon and helium, or a combination of inert and active gases like CO2, is fed through the welding gun to protect the molten weld pool from atmospheric contamination. This shielding gas also helps to stabilize the arc.

The MAGMIG process is known for its versatility and ability to weld a variety of metals, including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. It can be used in various positions and offers high welding speeds, making it efficient for both manual and automated applications. The deposition rate is generally higher compared to other arc welding processes like Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
