Lülit

Lülit is a term encountered in Estonian language primarily as a verb meaning to switch or toggle, in the sense of turning a device on or off. The standard infinitive form is lülitada, and common present-tense forms include lülitab and lülitan. The imperative form is lülita. In modern standard Estonian, lülit is not used as a standalone noun to denote a device; the usual noun for a switch is lüliti. As a result, lülit appears mainly in grammatical forms or in older or dialectal texts rather than as a distinct name for a physical object.

In technical and everyday usage, the act of switching is described with the verb lülitada, while the noun for the device itself is lüliti.
