Löytynyt

Löytynyt is a Finnish past participle form of the verb löytyä, meaning “to be found” or “to turn up.” It functions as a participle that marks a completed result of the action and is used in compound verb forms as well as in attributive use describing something that has been located.

In practice, löytynyt appears most often in perfect and pluperfect constructions with auxiliary verbs such as on or oli. Examples include: Esine on löytynyt. (The item has been found.) Kadonneet tavarat olivat jo löytyneet. (The missing items had already been found.) The form can also occur in sentences without an explicit auxiliary when the context makes the tense clear: Se löytynyt vasta nyt can be used in some stylistic contexts to mean “It has only now been found.”

As an attributive adjective, löytynyt can modify a noun to indicate that the thing in question is one that has been found, especially in formal or technical contexts. A found object might be described as löytynyt esine or, more commonly in everyday language, simply as esine that has been found; usage varies with register.
