Lämpöputkien

Lämpöputkien, meaning heat pipes in Finnish, are passive heat transfer devices that utilize the principles of phase transition to move heat efficiently. They consist of a sealed tube containing a working fluid, typically water or a similar substance, and a wick structure. In operation, heat applied to one end of the pipe vaporizes the working fluid. This vapor then travels rapidly to the cooler end of the pipe, where it condenses back into a liquid, releasing its latent heat. The liquid then returns to the hot end via capillary action through the wick, completing the cycle. This continuous evaporation and condensation process allows for very high effective thermal conductivity, making them far more efficient than solid conductors of the same size.

The primary advantage of lämpöputkien is their ability to transfer heat over a distance with minimal temperature drop and without the need for external power. They are lightweight, reliable, and require no maintenance.
