Lymphabflussstörungen, also known as lymphedema, are a medical condition characterized by the impaired drainage of lymph fluid. This can lead to a buildup of fluid in the interstitial spaces, causing swelling, typically in the arms or legs, but also potentially in other parts of the body. The lymphatic system is a crucial part of the immune system and plays a role in fluid balance. When its vessels or nodes are damaged or obstructed, lymph fluid cannot be effectively removed, leading to lymphedema.
