Lyijykyniä
Lyijykyniä, commonly known as pencils in English, are writing and drawing implements. The core of a lyijykynä is made from a graphite and clay mixture, encased in a protective wooden or plastic barrel. The graphite mixture, often referred to as "lead" despite containing no actual lead, is ground into a fine powder and mixed with a binder, typically clay, and then fired in a kiln. The ratio of graphite to clay determines the hardness and darkness of the mark the pencil makes. Softer pencils, with a higher graphite content, produce darker, smudgier lines, while harder pencils, with more clay, create lighter, more precise marks.
Lyijykyniä are used for a wide variety of purposes, including writing, sketching, technical drawing, and shading.
