Nuclear medicine imaging, such as bone scans, involves injecting a small amount of radioactive tracer into the bloodstream. This tracer accumulates in areas of increased bone metabolism, highlighting areas of fracture, infection, or cancer spread.

The choice of diagnostic method depends on the suspected condition, the location of the suspected abnormality, and the level of detail required for an accurate diagnosis. Each method has its own advantages and limitations, and they are often used in conjunction with one another to provide a comprehensive assessment of bone health.
