In dating and relationships, lowcommitment refers to casual or non-exclusive arrangements where partners expect limited emotional attachment, flexible timelines, and an easy exit. Common forms include casual dating, friends with benefits, or hookups, often with explicit or implicit boundaries about exclusivity and future expectations. Proponents cite greater personal freedom and reduced pressure; critics point to ambiguity, mismatched expectations, and potential harm when emotions develop without clear communication.

In markets and organizational settings, lowcommitment describes products, services, or agreements designed to minimize barriers to entry or exit. Examples include free trials, no-contract subscriptions, rolling monthly plans, or short-term partnerships. These models lower risk for the customer and can increase experimentation, but may reduce customer loyalty or lifetime value if churn is high.
