Logius

Logius is a Dutch government agency that coordinates the national digital infrastructure for public sector services. It operates under the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and functions as the backbone for authentication, identity verification, and secure information exchange between citizens, companies, and government bodies.

The agency oversees core services such as DigiD, the digital identity system that enables citizens to access a wide range of online government services; eHerkenning, the organizational authentication system used by businesses and other organizations to interact with government portals; and Digipoort, the secure gateway for electronic messages between the government and the private sector. The MijnOverheid portal relies on these infrastructure services to provide a unified access point to government information and services for citizens.

In addition to operating these services, Logius develops and maintains technical standards to ensure interoperable and secure digital systems. It promotes privacy protection and security across public digital services and coordinates national and European initiatives aimed at improving digital government infrastructure and cross-border authentication and data exchange.

Organization and oversight: Logius functions as a public-sector entity with a governance structure that includes a supervisory framework and collaboration with multiple government departments, as well as private partners and service providers involved in digital government.
