Logarska

Logarska Dolina, often referred to simply as Logarska, is a glacial valley in the Kamnik–Savinja Alps of northern Slovenia. It lies in the Municipality of Solčava and is widely regarded as one of the country’s most picturesque Alpine landscapes.

Geography and scenery: The valley extends about seven kilometers from the village of Luče toward the south and is carved by the Logar River. It is enclosed by high limestone cliffs and rugged mountain walls, with cascades, alpine meadows, and dense forests along the floor.

Protection and use: In 1987, Logarska Dolina was designated as a landscape park to protect its natural beauty, geological features, and traditional cultural landscape while enabling controlled tourism and sustainable farming. The designation seeks to balance conservation with local livelihoods.

Flora and fauna: The valley hosts beech and fir forests, diverse alpine flora, and typical mountain fauna such as chamois and deer, with seasonal birdlife and flowering meadows in summer.

Access and tourism: A narrow road through the valley connects settlements and provides access to hiking trails and viewpoints. The site is popular for hiking, cycling, photography, and agritourism, with facilities that emphasize environmental stewardship. The Solčava Panoramic Road nearby links Logarska Dolina with surrounding valleys and offers scenic views.
