Lisätoimintonäppäimet, often abbreviated as function keys or F-keys, are a set of keys on most computer keyboards that are labeled F1 through F12. These keys do not produce a character or symbol when pressed but instead perform a specific function or command within the operating system or the active application. The exact function of each key can vary significantly depending on the software being used and the operating system environment.

For example, F1 is commonly used to open a help menu in many applications. F2 often allows for renaming files or folders. F3 can initiate a search function, and F4 might close a window or application. Other function keys, such as F5, are frequently used to refresh a web page or reload content. The higher-numbered function keys, F6 through F12, have more specialized uses that are highly application-dependent.

Some keyboards also feature additional keys that are considered extensions of the function key concept, such as the Print Screen, Scroll Lock, and Pause/Break keys, which are often located in the same cluster as the F-keys. These keys also perform system-level functions.
