Lipofussiinin
Lipofussiinin is a pigment granule that accumulates in the lysosomes of aging cells. The term is sometimes used interchangeably with lipofuscin and can appear in different transliterations or languages as lipofussiinin. Lipofussiinin denotes a heterogeneous mixture of lipid-containing residues of lysosomal digestion, formed from oxidized lipids, cross-linked proteins, and other indigestible cellular debris.
The accumulation of lipofussiinin occurs when cellular autophagy and lysosomal degradation become less efficient with age
Under light microscopy, lipofussiinin appears as brownish-yellow granules. The pigment also exhibits autofluorescence, allowing detection by
Lipofussiinin is regarded as a biomarker of cellular aging and lysosomal activity rather than a direct cause
