Linnakeskustes

Linnakeskustes is a term that appears to be a nonstandard inflected form related to the compound linnakeskus, which in standard Estonian and Finnish corresponds to fortress center. In Estonian the typical plural is linnakeskused and in Finnish linnakeskukset. The exact meaning and grammatical usage of linnakeskustes depend on language and context, and it is not widely attested in standard dictionaries. In discussions about fortress towns, however, the underlying idea commonly referred to is the fortress center—the core district around a citadel where military and civilian functions were concentrated.
