Leijonia

Leijonia is a fictional constitutional monarchy located on a chain of islands off the northern coast of the imagined continent of Halvaria. The name derives from the Old Lejonic word leijon, meaning lion, and its coat of arms features a heraldic lion.

Geography and population: The archipelago covers about 20,000 square kilometers, with rugged coastlines, conifer forests, and fjord-like inlets. The population is about 1.8 million, with major urban centers in the capital, Leiton, and the port city Fjordvik.

History and government: Legally established as a monarchy in the 14th century, Leijonia evolved into a constitutional monarchy in the 19th century. The government combines a ceremonial monarch with a democratically elected parliament and prime minister.

Economy and society: The economy blends fishing, maritime trade, timber, and light industry. Renewable energy, especially wind and hydroelectric, accounts for a growing share of electricity. The society emphasizes education, guilds, and strong local councils; bilingual education in Lejonic and Verdan is common.
