Leidingsweerstand

Leidingsweerstand refers to the opposition to fluid flow within a pipe or duct. This resistance arises from several factors, primarily friction between the fluid and the pipe walls, and internal friction within the fluid itself (viscosity). As a fluid moves, it exerts shear stress on the pipe surface, creating a force that opposes the motion. The magnitude of this frictional resistance depends on the pipe's material, its internal surface roughness, the fluid's velocity, and the fluid's viscosity.

In addition to wall friction, turbulence within the fluid can significantly increase resistance. Turbulent flow is characterized by chaotic, swirling eddies, which dissipate energy and lead to greater pressure drop compared to smooth, laminar flow. Geometric features within the piping system, such as bends, valves, and changes in diameter, also introduce additional resistance. These components disrupt the smooth flow of the fluid, causing localized turbulence and pressure losses.
